Am I eligible for the HARP Loan?
As you probably already know, the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) allows eligible mortgages to be refinanced, regardless of the homes current value. So even if you owe more on your home then it is worth, as many people in Florida do, you still may be eligible for this loan.
So, the real question is – who is eligible for this HARP loan?
There are three main items that will give you indication if you are eligible for HARP
1) Does Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac own your loan?
Click to see if Fannie Mae owns your loan.
1-800-7FANNIE (8am to 8pm EST)
Click to see if Freddie Mac owns your loan.
1-800-FREDDIE (8am to 8pm EST)
If they do not come up on the search, do not get discouraged, as you may want to call the number provided to see if the may still own your loan.
2) Have you made no late payments in the last 6 months, and 1 or less in the last 12 months?
3) Did Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac Purchase your loan prior to may of 2009? While it may be difficult for you to tell when Fannie or Freddie purchased your loan, it stands to reason that is you got your loan before May of 2009, they would have purchased your loan before that date.
If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then you are preliminarily eligible for this loan. The next step is to contact me so that we can review the details and get you ready for this refinance program.
